Position Summary

We are looking for a Developer and general Technologist to contribute in several key ways to the overall success and productivity of the R&D team. Your focus will be on building, enhancing and maintaining our custom and 3^rd party development toolset. You will also be expected to develop and enhance the core application framework underlying our web-based, hosted solution, which has been built from the ground-up using Microsofts .NET platform. You possess or will develop a broad complement of technical skills that will allow you to implement functionality across all layers of the solution, and to creatively and robustly automate tasks for a wide variety of situations across a wide variety of environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the development toolset, including automated test frameworks, code generation tools, database utilities, deployment utilities, Visual Studio plugins, team wiki, source control and many more.
• Design and implement core application framework changes and enhancements across the entire code base as necessary.
• Assist database developers in database publication, administration and support activities.
• Develop customized automation scripts and utilities.
• Collaborate with QA team to automate test procedures.
• Write and maintain internal system documentation, including API guides, as necessary.
• Provide verbal status updates to the entire R&D team on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• University degree, college diploma or equivalent training in computer science or engineering.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML,XML.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Transact-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server stored procedures.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with NUnit, or equivalent unit test framework.
• 1+ years experience building web-based applications.
• Proficiency with MSBuild, NAnt, or equivalent build scripting technologies.
• Proficiency with scripting languages, such as Ruby, Perl.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A positive attitude and a results-oriented work ethic.
• An ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
• An ability to work effectively using agile development methodologies.
• An ability to self-monitor progress against project goals and employ corrective actions as necessary.

Assets

• Familiarity with database normalization forms.
• Familiarity with code generation approaches and tools (e.g. CodeSmith, T4).
• Familiarity with Visual Studio add-ins and integration.
• Familiarity with common software design patterns and best practices.
• Experience building software deployed as a hosted service
