Position Summary

We are looking for a Technical Writer who will be responsible for maintaining task-based procedural and reference documentation for external clients. You will be expected to develop user guides, training documentation. As well as develop and maintain online help resources.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain clear and concise reference and tutorial documentation in various formats and in compliance with internal standards.
  • Develop relationships within cross-functional departments, interface with members of the development and QA teams.
  • Work with Marketing Communications to develop/establish a standardized format for documentation and training collateral.
  • Create and maintain product documentation for end users.
  • Produce training manuals and training videos for internal/external clients.
  • Analyze and understand product features, technical specifications, and user interfaces.
  • Provide recommendations re: usability improvements.
  • Define scope of work, estimate project tasks, and update schedules.
  • Complete tasks on time.
  • Edit and provide quality assurance on all documentation and training collateral.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years experience in technical documentation/communication experience or an equivalent.
  • Post secondary education in a related discipline.
  • Experience with documentation production and supporting systems/standard publishing tools.
  • Experience with multimedia programming an asset.
  • Experience with user/task analysis and usability testing an asset.
  • French language skills and/or experience with product localization.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (oral and written) in English and French.
  • Ability to gather information from a variety of sources including development, product management, in order to clearly convey it in a written form.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills to complete multiple projects and competing tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with revision control systems an asset.
