Helpdesk Support Technician

Job Summary:

The Helpdesk Support Technician is the primary point of contact for all end user IT related problems and requests.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Respond to end user requests via the helpdesk ticketing system. Such requests may deal with, but not be limited to:

  • Troubleshooting desktop/laptop hardware and application (Windows XP & Office 2003, etc) issues
  • Email connectivity issues
  • Installation of hardware add-ons and applications
  • Network connectivity issues (wired and wireless)
  • Printer hardware and connectivity issues
  • Blackberry support

Projects including:

  • Ghosting and deployment of new computer systems
  • Research/analysis of new technologies and ongoing issues

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong grasp of troubleshooting principles
  • Familiar with desktop/laptop hardware
  • Familiar with network practices and concepts
  • Windows XP and Office 2003 installation, configuration and support

Education and/or Experience:

  • 2-year + of support experience preferred, but education and certifications will be considered
  • MCDST, MCSE, A+ and CCNA certifications a definite asset
  • Experience with Windows Server 2003 an asset
  • Familiarity with helpdesk tracking systems an asset

Other:

  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required
